Sutan Syahrir

Sutan Syahrir lahir di Padang Panjang pada 5 Maret 1909. Syahrir adalah pejuang pergerakan kemerdekaan sejak zaman colonial, keluar masuk penjara karena perlawanan itu. Di awal merdeka menjadi perdana menteri yang memperjuangkan pengakuan kedaulatan RI sekaligus pencetus pertama politik bebas aktif. Syahrir wafat pada 9 April 1966. Ditetapkan oleh Presiden Soekarno sebagai pahlawan nasional melalui Kepres No. 76 Tahun 1966 tertanggal 9 April 1966.

Sutan Syahrir was born in Padang Panjang on the 5th March 1909. Syahrir was an Independence fighter from colonial times, and was imprisoned for the fight. At the beginning of Independence he became Prime Minister, fighting for recognition of sovereignty of the Indonesian Republic and at the same time created  the concept of free and active politics of the Republic. Syahrir died on the 9th of April 1966. President Soekarno decreed that he is a National Hero through Presidential Act Number 76, 1966 dated 9th of April 1966.
