FATMAWATI
Lahir pada 5 Februari 1923 di Bengkulu. Ia hidup dimasa pergerakan nasional dan orang tuanya berjuang melalui organisasi Muhammadiyah. Pada tahun 1943 Fatmawati dipinang Soekarno menjadi isterinya. Fatmawati menjadi Ibu Negara pertama dari tahun 1945 hingga tahun 1967. Sewaktu Sewaktu serangan Agresi Militer I Belanda di Yogjakarta, Fatmawati sebagai Ibu Negara mendampingi Presiden Soekarno berlindung ke hutan mengurus segala keperluan untuk menyediakan makanan dengan peralatan dan bahan seadanya. Fatmawati juga dikenal akan jasanya dalam menjahit bendera pusaka “Sang Saka Merah Putih” yang turut dikibarkan pada upacara Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Indonesia di Jakarta pada 17 Agustus 1945. Famwati meninggal dunia pada usia 57 tahun di Kualalumpur, Malaysia ketika dalam perjalanan pulang dari setelah melangsungkan Ibadah Umrah pada 1980 akibat serangan jantung. Fatmawati mendapat gelar Pahlawan Nasional dari Pemerintah melalui Kerpres No. 118/TK/2000 Tanggal 4 Nopember 2000, dua puluh tahun setelah wafatnya.
FATMAWATI
Fatmawati was born on the 5th of Februari 1923 in Bengkulu. She lived durung the national struggle and her parents fought through the Muhammadiyah Organization. In 1943, Fatmawati was proposed by Soekarno to become his wife. She became the first lady from 1945 to 1967. During the first Dutch Military Agression I in Yogjakarta, Fatmawati as the first Lady accompanied President Soekarno to the jungle to take care of all his needs including food with whatever equipment and items that were available. Fatmawati was also known as the one who sewed the “Red and White National Flag” called “Sang Saka Merah Putih” that was flown in every Indonesian Freedom Proclamation Day. Fatmawati died at the age of 57 in Kualalumpur, Malaysia on her way home from Umrah (small haj) from Mecca in 1980 from a heart attack. Fatmawati was given the title of National Hero by the government through Presidential Act No. 118/TK/2000, twenty years after her death.
